Oh Captain my captain

¡Oh, Capitán! ¡Mi Capitán! (en inglés: Oh Captain! My captain!)^? es un poema de Walt Whitman escrito en homenaje a Abraham Lincoln, presidente de EE.UU., después de su asesinato en 1865. Se publicó por primera vez el mismo año en un apéndice adjunto a la última versión de Hojas de hierba, su obra maestra.^[1]​

O Captain my Captain! our fearful trip is done;
The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won;
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring:

O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up—for you the flag is flung—for you the bugle trills;
For you bouquets and ribbon’d wreaths—for you the shores a-crowding;
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;

My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still;
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will;
The ship is anchor’d safe and sound, its voyage closed and done;
From fearful trip, the victor ship, comes in with object won;

¡Oh, Capitán, mi Capitán! Nuestro azaroso viaje ha terminado;
El barco capeó los temporales, el premio que buscamos se ha ganado;
Cerca está el puerto, ya oigo las campanas, todo el mundo se muestra alborozado,
la firme quilla siguen con sus ojos, el adusto velero tan audaz.

¡Oh, Capitán! ¡Mi Capitán! Levántate y escucha las campanas;
levántate —por ti la enseña ondea— por ti suena el clarín;
por ti son las guirnaldas y festones —por ti se apiñan gentes en la orilla;
por ti claman, la inquieta masa a ti se vuelve ansiosa.

Mi Capitán no contesta, están sus labios pálidos e inertes;
Mi padre no es consciente de mi brazo, no tiene pulso ya ni voluntad.
El barco sano y salvo ha echado el ancla, el periplo por fin ha concluido;
del azaroso viaje, el barco victorioso regresa logrado el objetivo.
